Who issues gas permits in Commerce?

The City of Commerce’s Building and Safety Division, at City Hall on Commerce Way, which checks plans against the Los Angeles County plumbing code. New lines, extensions and replaced piping generally need a permit and an inspection. We can pull the permit on your behalf, in which case our administrative fee is added to the city’s charge, or your own staff can pull it.

Will the whole building lose gas during the repair?

Only as much of it as the job requires. Where the piping has valves that let one run be isolated, we shut off that run and leave the rest in service; where it does not, the gas stays off until the repair has been tested.
